Tobia Scarpa

Tobia Scarpa was born in Venice in 1935, the son of the architect Carlo Scarpa. He graduated in architecture from the IUAV in Venice in 1957, worked as a glass designer at Venini in Murano until 1961, and in 1960 opened a design office in Montebelluna with his wife Afra, designing for Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina and Benetton; the couple won the Compasso d’Oro in 1969.

For Flos he designed the Biagio table lamp, carved from a single block of Carrara marble, the Foglio wall lamp in pressed steel and the Ariette ceiling and wall lamps with fabric diffusers.
