Stephen Burks

Stephen Burks believes in a pluralistic vision of design inclusive of all cultural perspectives, and his work with artisan groups around the world has seen him called a design activist. Through his studio, Stephen Burks Man Made, he bridges artisan production, industrial manufacturing and contemporary design. His honours include the 2015 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Product Design, and he was a 2019 Loeb Fellow at Harvard.

For Living Divani he designed Islands, a coffee table and a sideboard ringed by wooden slats that pivot on a central axis, from a compact presence to an airy one.
