Pio Manzu
Pio Manzù, born Pio Manzoni in 1939, was the son of the sculptor Giacomo Manzù. He studied product design at the Ulm School of Design, graduating in 1964 as its first Italian, and designed cars, furniture and objects, among them the Fiat 127 and the Cronotime clock. His career ended with his early death in 1969, at the age of 30.
Parentesi, developed for Flos by Achille Castiglioni from Manzù’s earlier sketch, is a light that slides up and down a steel cable stretched from ceiling to floor.
