Mario Cananzi & Roberto Semprini

Mario Cananzi, born in Rimini in 1958, and Roberto Semprini, born there in 1959, both studied architecture in Florence before working as designers in Milan. Cananzi, who also took a master’s in industrial design at the Domus Academy, has designed motorcycles for Piaggio, Yamaha and KTM, while Semprini, a member of the Bolidismo group, teaches design at the Brera Academy.

Their Tatlin Sofa for Edra, loosely based on Tatlin’s tower, emblem of Constructivism, won a Top Ten prize in 1993 and remains an Edra icon, also made as the Tatlin Diamond Sofa with Swarovski crystals.
