Jorn Utzon

Jørn Utzon, the son of a naval engineer, trained as an architect and travelled the world to become one of the greatest architects of the 20th century. His work ranges from the Sydney Opera House, the Kuwait National Assembly and the Kingo housing project to a few smaller objects, all marrying functionality, structural integrity and sculptural harmony. He received the Pritzker Prize in 2003 and died in 2008.

For Architectmade he designed Spring, a set of mouth-blown glasses inspired by pure materials and fluid space. As Utzon put it, “The greatest importance of the glass is the space within it.”
