Gino Sarfatti

Gino Sarfatti moved to Genoa in 1930 to study aeronaval engineering, but when sanctions ruined his father’s business he gave up his studies and moved to Milan, where an encounter with light design set his path. He founded Arteluce in 1939, designed more than 700 luminaires, won the Compasso d’Oro in 1954 and 1955, and sold Arteluce to Flos in 1973.

His 2097 suspension lamp for Flos, with a steel central structure and brass arms, gives diffused light from its clear or frosted bulbs in several sizes.
