Eero Aarnio
Born in Helsinki in 1932, Eero Aarnio studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts and opened his own office in 1962. His Ball Chair of 1963, a hollow sphere open on one side, became an icon after it was shown at the Cologne furniture fair in 1966, followed by the Bubble and Pastil chairs, and in 2008 he won a Compasso d’Oro.
For Serralunga he designed the Pulcino, Paloma and Doggy figures for the garden, and the Primavera planter, where a sphere and a tube meet, named after his favourite season.
