Forma Table Lamp
With his Forma design, Christian Haas interprets the 1940s/50s archetype of a classic desk lamp in solid wood. He reduced the original shape without trivialising it and thus created an unmistakable silhouette: the asymmetry of the base and the domed shade of glued solid wood stripes, make the design appear to have grown organically. The inherent warmth and sensuousness of the naturally grown material of which Forma is made, ash or walnut wood, lends the new luminaire its homely character. An almost invisible push button in the base guarantees easy operation. The large, slightly inclined shade with a satinised diffuser panel and a dimmable warm white LED ring provides pleasant, glare-free light. Forma is versatile and cuts a fine figure on a desk as well as on a sideboard, shelf or bedside table.

ClassiCon’s collection aims to produce individual pieces of great originality and formal perfection. Displaying the kind of value that lasts, ClassiCon collection pieces are destined to become coveted investments for future generations. ClassiCon has from its inception aspired not only to offer pieces by established figures such as Eileen Gray and Eckart Muthesius, but also to foster contemporary design and to present selected examples in its program. Naturally, the models chosen must display the kind of quality and advanced form that earns them the designation “classic”. That’s why ClassiCon is always open to new design ideas.
Christian Haas
Christian Haas was born in Erlangen, Germany, in 1974 and founded his own studio in 2000, a year after graduating in industrial design. Combining simplicity and elegance across furniture, lamps, porcelain and glass, he has worked for Rosenthal, Tecta and Karimoku New Standard, and his Ropes lamps are in the permanent collection of the Vitra Design Museum. He lives and works in Porto.
For ClassiCon he designed the Materia coffee, side and long tables, whose slim, organically shaped tops in open-pored travertine or marble have asymmetrical contours and a concave surface.
