Catilina Chair

Designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni

From the moment it was first presented at the XI Triennale in Milan in 1957, Catilina became one of Luigi Caccia Dominioni’s classics. He loved the design so much that guests in his studio would settle down by his desk to chat in these chairs.

Luigi Caccia Dominioni

Luigi Caccia Dominioni (1913-2016) graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1936 and opened a studio with Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. One of the leading architects of post-war Milan, he designed the flats in Via Ippolito Nievo, the San Felice district with Vico Magistretti and the redevelopment of Piazza San Babila.

In 1947 he founded Azucena with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua to furnish the buildings they designed. His pieces include the 1957 Catilina armchair, the Monachella lamp and the Cavalletto table, and he won several Compasso d’Oro awards, one for his career.
