Colonna Stool
The Colonna stool is included in the "Kartell goes Sottsass - A Tribute to Memphis" collection, launched in homage to the movement founded by design guru Ettore Sottsass. Colonna's main asset is its versatility, allowing it to be used as either a stool or a side table.

- The Designer
Kartell
Kartell is the world’s leading manufacturer of plastic design classics. Since the advent of this new material in 1950, Kartell has worked with designers to make plastic engaging and comfortable. Componibili was one of the first pieces launched and is still in production today. Colour is Kartell’s trademark, but in 2001 they perfected transparent plastic with the Louis Ghost chair by Philippe Starck. Louis Ghost is now their number one selling chair.
Ettore Sottsass
Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck in 1917, graduated in architecture in Turin in 1939 and opened his Milan studio in 1947. From 1958 he worked as a consultant to Olivetti, where his Elea 9003 computer won a Compasso d’Oro, and in the 1980s he led the Memphis group and founded Sottsass Associati. He died in Milan in 2007.
For Poltronova, where he was art director, he designed the Califfo sofa of 1962, the Crazy Horse table of 1968 and the Ultrafragola mirror, the only piece of his 1970 Mobili Grigi series to reach production.
