Small writing-desk with tubular brushed nickel-plated structure, finish mat transparent paint, with tubular cross bars under the top. Top in bent mat hand painted plate in the colours taupe and dark brown.
The small table was designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for the Maison La Roche, the villa built between 1923 and 1925 for Raoul La Roche, who commissioned a house where he could also exhibit his art collection. Displayed in 1925 at the Pavillon de l'Esprit Nouveau in Paris - the prestigious international exhibition of modern decorative and industrial arts where Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret designed the "base cell", a prototype of purely industrial urban home unit - this small metal table was the first piece of the future revolutionary metal furniture series exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1929.
