Delfino pouf by Erberto Carboni is a significant example of the so-called "organic" furniture line, that developed in the 1950s and draws inspiration from the forms of nature.

Erberto Carboni

Erberto Carboni (1899-1984) is an artist born in 1899 who went on to become an illustrator, architect and designer.

A maverick of the Italian advertising scene, he linked his name to famous slogans for Barilla pasta and Pavesini biscuits. He formed a strong bond with Rai, for which he created famous logos and the first television acronyms.

Then in 1921 , immediately after graduating from the Paolo Toschi Institute of Fine Arts in Parma he made his debut as a caricaturist in the local humorous periodical La Puntura, with the pseudonym of Lynx. Then he worked on advertising graphics and began his activity as an illustrator. Among the many collaborators he had, Carboni’s work with, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni stands out. Hefirst worked with them on the construction of the Rai pavilion in 1951. This was the beginning of a fruitful period of collaboration in among his many creative pursuits, as a designer, he developed the Delfino armchair in 1954 for the Arflex company. Which remains a best-selling classic today.
