Fresh from the success of its launch collection in 2016, SP01 has released its first outdoor collection of elegant chairs, tables and stools by Australian designer Tom Fereday.
Made in Italy by leading manufacturers, the range was designed and tested to withstand the tough environment of the Australian outdoors. Working again with the established Italian design studio Metrica. For the outdoor collection, SP01 also engaged rising star Tom Fereday.
Tom Fereday was born in Australia, grew up in England and studied at the Wimbledon School of Art, before moving to Sydney to complete an Honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. He founded his studio in 2012 and was a recipient of a Space Furniture Design Residency placement that took him to Amsterdam to work with Marcel Wanders and Moooi. He now works with clients in Australia and further afield, balancing a range of projects from his Sydney studio.

Working on a diverse range of projects, the brief to design an outdoor collection tied to Tom's experience living in Australia and his first-hand understanding of the impact the local environment can place on outdoor furniture.
Just like the original collection, SP01 Outdoor is 100% manufactured in Italy in collaboraton with the Italy's best manufacturers. SP01 has taken the steps to ensure the product is superior in quality. Salt mist testing was done for 1500 hours, with 800 hours the standard test for the automotive panels for many car brands.

SP01 Outdoor has a similar design approach to the launch collection. At a glance it is pared back and minimal, yet upon closer inspection each piece has a refined detailing. This collection has a heavy focus on the bending of metal wire, which is then mixed beautifully with an earthy natural material palette including marble and timber.
SP01 Outdoor is available in a selection of bold, yet timeless colours. In addition to classic black and white, rich jewel tones including opal green, deep blue and salmon, make the collection extend from the outside in.
SP01 is available exclusively in South East Asia from Space – Australia – and Space – Asia.
