Uwe Fischer studied industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. Together with Klaus-Achim Heine in 1985 he founded Ginbande Design, and during the course of the following 10 years they developed a series of experimental designs. In 1993 he opened his own studio in Frankfurt am Main that is more of a workshop than a company providing a service. This philosophy is evident in his accomplished designs such as the ones for the Frankfurt airport and Frankfurt Exhibition Centre. Fischer has also designed important art shows in various museums in Germany. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer in the Architecture and Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, and since 2001 he has been Professor in the Industrial Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts of in Stuttgart. His clients include B&B Italia, Authentics and Vitra.
