Massimo Scolari graduated in architecture in Milan in 1969. Between 1975 and 1993 he was visiting professor at various prestigious universities including Cornell University, Harvard University, and Cambridge. From 2006 Massimo became the Davenport visiting professor at the Yale School of Architecture. From 1989 he designed furniture for Giorgetti where he was also the company's art director until 2001. He has held exhibitions in Europe, Japan, Russia and the United States, and his works are in the permanent collections of the MOMA, New York, the Deutsches Architektur Museum in Frankfurt, and of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2001 gained a pilot’s license, and in 2007 Skira published a monograph on his work to coincide with a retrospective exhibition of his work at the Civic Museum in Riva del Garda. He lives in Venice.
